{"id":234,"date":"2026-07-05T15:19:47","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T19:19:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cervantesfs.org\/?p=234"},"modified":"2026-07-05T15:20:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T19:20:19","slug":"cuba-declares-no-pasaran-to-u-s-imperialism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cervantesfs.org\/es\/archives\/234","title":{"rendered":"Cuba Declares &#8220;No Pasaran&#8221; to U.S. Imperialism"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cuba will fight to the last drop of blood if attacked, President Diaz-Canel warns US<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Morning Star Wire Services<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CUBA is not afraid of war with the United States, President Miguel Diaz-Canel warned Washington on Thursday after new threats from US President Donald\u00a0Trump.<br>\u201cWe don\u2019t want war, but we\u2019re not afraid of it, and we\u2019re getting ready so we\u2019re not surprised or defeated,\u201d Mr Diaz-Canel said in an interview with Sky\u00a0News.<br>He spoke a day after Mr Trump repeated threats to the socialist island, saying it was \u201ccoming our way after many, many decades\u201d in a Wednesday rant against Spain\u2019s centre-left government, mostly directed at Madrid\u2019s refusal to raise military spending but including boasts about the US displacing the Spanish empire as the dominant power in the\u00a0Americas.<br>Since kidnapping Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at the start of the year, the Trump administration has turned the longstanding illegal US blockade of Cuba into an all-out siege, cutting off energy supplies with devastating impacts on its economy and healthcare system. Just one oil tanker, from Russia, has successfully reached Cuba since early\u00a0January.<br>Mr Diaz-Canel said the \u201cthreats, the constant rhetoric of aggression against our country by the US government\u2026 are part of a strategy of media-driven intoxication and psychological warfare in order to frighten our country and destabilise our\u00a0society.\u201d<br>But Cuba was ready to fight \u201cto the last drop of blood,\u201d he\u00a0warned.<br>On Tuesday Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said no progress had been made in talks with the US over its threats to the country.
