The International Steering Committee (ISC) of Railroad Workers United passed a resolution to bring home Brother Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia<\/strong>, a legally protected immigrant and SMART Union member<\/a>. Kilmar was deported by the Trump administration without due process to a Salvadoran mega-prison \u2014 despite holding legal protections still in place at the time of his apprehension by ICE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A federal judge, supported by the U.S. Supreme Court, found no legal basis for his deportation, yet federal officials ignored court orders, made false public claims, denied him due process and violated Kilmar\u2019s rights\u2014 setting a dangerous precedent for us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SMART Union<\/a>, Kilmar\u2019s community, and his allies are demanding Kilmar\u2019s safe return, an end to his and his family\u2019s suffering, and a defense of due process \u2014 the foundation of fair treatment on and off the job. Railroad Workers United stands in solidarity with this call and urges all union members to defend the rights of workers born outside the U.S. who are now so unjustly targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fight is about more than one member\u2014it\u2019s about protecting the rights every worker depends on.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
