Member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, called for increasing the fight against crimes, with special emphasis on those associated with fuel theft.
He stressed that these events acquire a particular seriousness due to their impact on the national economy and on basic services to the population.
Another of the issues addressed by the Head of Government was the theft of oil, used in transformers, a crime that he described as highly sensitive, because “they are attacking our people, they are affecting an entire community. This issue must be given a lot of publicity to add the people to the confrontation. Let it be known that there is no tolerance for fuel theft, for corruption.”
“But also a strong hand with the irresponsible administrators who are not fulfilling their role . . . who are not governing as they have to govern,” he stressed.
Leisy Hernández González, director general of the National Office for the Rational Use of Energy (Onure), updated on the main results in the prevention and confrontation of fuel theft in 2025 and in the first quarter of 2026.
Regarding the behavior of the criminal registry at the end of March, the Comptroller General of the Republic, Mirian Marbán González, emphasized the need to strengthen the internal control system in state entities and deepen the analysis of information.
“We must increase the rigor of the administrative measures that are adopted and of the disciplinary measures as well. It seems that there is not total awareness of what the diversion of fuel implies and its use,” she said.
The president of the Supreme People’s Court, Oscar Silvera Martínez, stressed the importance of reporting confrontational actions: “When people appreciate that confrontation and that work system, they trust and participate, and there we are winning the fight of the public’s rejection of crimes.”
On economic crimes, the Prime Minister insisted on strengthening control in processing centers and warehouses, differentiated work with security teams and indicated strengthening the confrontation plans.
