Thousands of People Secretly Deported Abroad as White House openly brags

Since Trump took office in January, more than 4,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees have gone missing or unable to track on ICE databases. Additionally, thousands of deportees have been sent to countries that are not their national origin including 5,700 non-Mexicans being deported to Mexico.

To add insult to injury, the White House official Facebook page, on December 9th, shared a meme based on the children’s movie, Polar Express. In the post, the White House posted the quote, “It doesn’t matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.” While President Trump and his cabinet are no strangers to transgression, this post is particularly insidious. The White House social media post adapts the Polar Express quote, “One thing about trains… it doesn’t matter where they’re are going. What matters is deciding to get on,” as a response to the American Public demanding answers as to where ICE detainees and deportees are.

With the heavy militarization of ICE including $75 billion budget awarded to ICE this Summer and with the lack of the public’s ability to hold ICE accountable, posts such as the one shared on the White House social media that draws humor from atrocities cannot be interpreted as anything but sadistic and terrorist.
